Hoosier Harvest Council represents members in the
Central Indiana Counties of Delaware, Hamilton, Hancock,
Henry, Madison, Marion, Rush, and Shelby.
The Hoosier Harvest Council, through a partnership with the Purdue University Extension Service - Hancock County, is your definitive source for information about availability of local foods by direct-to-consumer sales, CSAs, and farmers markets in Central Indiana. We welcome members from all over Indiana to promote the availability of local food and agriculture related products.
Membership in the Hoosier Harvest Council provides many benefits, including listings in our print directory, our newsletters, and on this site. To see what products a member offers, visit their page in the Local Farms section. You can also find some of our members at the many of our local Farmers Markets. If your market is not a member, please consider a Farmers Market Membership.
If you simply want to support the Hoosier Harvest Council's mission, we also welcome Associate Members and Corporate Sponsorship for those who wish to be involved in the promotion of local foods.
We generally hold monthly meetings at the Purdue Extension Office (Hancock County, 802 North Apple Street, Greenfield, IN 46140) on the 1st Monday of each month, at 7:00 PM. These are designed to be educational and networking meetings. On occasion we will hold meetings at member farms.
We have held several farm tours over the past few years to allow more people to visit the local farms and learn more about where their food comes from. Farm tours have included beef and dairy farms, nurseries and greenhouses, and orchards. We plan to continue farm tours in the surrounding areas. Check back here for more information on upcoming tour dates and locations.
The purpose of the Hoosier Harvest Council is to expand the opportunities for agricultural producers in the Hancock County area to sell what they produce locally. This may include farm-direct marketing, farmer markets, Community Supported Agriculture, and other means.
Hoosier Harvest Council prints a directory of its members and sponsors to distrubute at at events and help to promote our members. This is a quick reference. More details on each member are found on their membership page on this site.
